Dear Representatives Bera and Bucshon:

The undersigned organizations representing surgeons and anesthesiologists support the Supporting Medicare Providers Act of 2022. We commend your leadership and commitment to stopping the 4.42% Medicare payment cut, helping protect seniors’ access to surgical and other lifesaving care. We stand with you and commit our resources to passing this legislation before the end of the year.

Providing relief from these significant cuts will help stabilize the health care system while policymakers consider solutions to the ongoing structural problems with Medicare’s broken payment system.

This legislation, along with an inflationary update based on the Medicare Economic Index and stopping the 4% PAYGO cuts, is essential to protecting patient access to care.

Thank you for your leadership.

Sincerely,
